Minecraft Towny servers are survival styled servers built around towns, land claims, and player run communities/economies. Players can start their own town or move into one that already exists and build with other residents inside the town's protected land. Each town usually has ranks like Mayor, Helper, Builder, or Councilor, which control who can claim land, manage residents, or edit different parts of the town. Towny servers are usually friendly and grief-protected, but still have regular raiding and PvP often limited or disabled. Many also have economy features like taxes, town banks, jobs, player shops, and auction houses where players can buy and sell items. Some Towny servers also add features like nations, temporary war systems, live maps, and other features that make towns feel more connected.
