Minecraft Lifesteal servers, sometimes called Lifesteal SMP servers, are a specific type of server where every time you die you lose a heart. If you run out of hearts, you are banned from the server, either permanently or temporarily depending on the server. To gain hearts back, players can kill other players, but most servers also let you earn hearts through voting, crafting, or trading them with other players. Most Lifesteal servers also set limits on how many hearts you can gain or lose so players do not get too overpowered or too weak. Compared with normal SMP servers Lifesteal is usually much more competitive and has constant PvP so it's not recommended for players looking for something casual.
