Minecraft economy servers are often similar to SMP or survival servers, but with a much bigger focus on the in-game economy. Most of these servers use a player driven currency/economy system that lets players earn money, deposit it in banks, and spend it on items, ranks, land claims, or other server features. A lot of the economy comes from jobs like mining, farming, or fishing, while other players make money by selling items they loot through chest shops, player shops, or auction houses. Economy servers usually also have land claiming to help protect bases from griefers as players normally spend a lot of time building shops, farms, and other ways to make money.
